The Rat sign carries the Yang Water energy. It is pure water; it is the energy of communication, strategy, and risk-taking. Like a river’s journey to the sea, this energy is also about persistence in getting to your goal but with flexibility on how to get there. Water also always looks for the path of least resistance; this makes the Rat natu- rally inclined to strategic thinking. He is also one of the four Peach Blossom or Plum Flower signs of the Chinese zodiac – the four signs of irresistibility. His attraction is likely related to his eloquence and ability to communicate his deep thoughts.
2023 has been irritating for the Rat. The Rat and Rabbit relationship involves what is called an Ingratitude Penal- ty, which manifests itself as children (or employee, stu- dents, citizen) rebelling against their parents (or emplo- yer, teacher, leaders) – and the parents’s side bearing the ingratitude. The Rat’s role was of the parent. You’ve had enough of last year’s ingrates and ready to move on.
The Rat’s ally is the Ox, but it also has a natural affinity with the Dragon and the Monkey: when the Monkey, the Rat and the Dragon meet they generate the Water energy (technically called the Three Harmony or San He).
